We are joining the nation in commemorating the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Rather than at street parties, we are honouring the men and women of WW2 at home, resilient and strong especially in these challenging times, - remembering the elation felt by our grandparents and great grandparents that peace had come to Europe at last. Thank you to that generation for all our freedoms and the guidance they have given us.
The Morris Singer Art Foundry, Hampshire, is proud to present a limited edition bronze Spitfire sculpture of rare and distinguished beauty.
Based on the MK14 model aircraft, with an elliptical wing shape, distinctive enclosed dome canopy, and Rolls Royce Griffon engine, (superseding the V-12 Merlin engine); this classic and iconic all-metal, low-wing fighter aircraft was synonymous with the Battle of Britain. The Morris Singer’s reproduction is 1/5th of the scale of the actual aircraft; as the sculpture is immortalised in a warm bronze tone, with a wax finish. Weighing 200 kg’s, the distinguished aircraft is poignantly elevated on a seamless sweeping silver rod, as the aircraft appears to be captured in full flight. This replica model aircraft is a unique piece of national history for a distinctly limited audience; a tribute cast in bronze that puts this iconic aircraft in its rightful human and cultural context.
Like so much of our history, the aircraft epitomised the seamless synergy of innovative ideas and ground breaking engineering that comes together effortlessly. An aircraft that still manages to appeal to all of our senses, this classic model aircraft encapsulated the true spirit and freedom of this immense flying machine.
